Inaugural Claymore Olympics

Posting this on behalf of Schroeder - so we have a record of these games of the first Claymore Olympiad

FIRST ANNUAL CLAYMORE OLYMPICS - the COC (Claymore Organizing Committee) finished the event setup with minutes to spare as per tradition. The COC Torch burned bright as it was passed among gathering PAX.  Bartman was glad to have some company.  Musical guest Daft Punk set the mood with "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger" and then the Olympic Fanfare and Theme played as the clock hit 5:45am.

Introduction > Pledge > count off 1/2/3 to create four competing teams representing the great nations of Claymore (CM), Roguemont (RM), and Evermist (EM).

PARADE OF NATIONS:  Each country chose a Flagbearer to carry the homemade flags made by young representatives of each nation. Starting with the home nation of Claymore, delegates led all participants in their native Exercises.  CM:  Good mornings / Daisy Pickers;  RM:  Mountain Climbers / Merkins; EM:  Michael Phelps; Sir Fazio A/C F/R.  Mosey to the first event.

EVENT 1:  Bear Crawl Relay.  Teams line up, PAX 1 bear crawls up/back while rest of team does signature cheer.  Repeato; first team back wins.  Cheers:  CM: Hillbillies; RM: Sumo Squats; EM: Overhead Claps.  Result:  CM 3 pts, RM 2 pts, EM 1 pt.

EVENT 2: Rockput.  Mosey to rock pile, grab ego rock...which may have been a mistake for some. Overhead carry to sand court where a measuring tape had been left... then shotput-style rocks.  Max team distance wins.  Remaining PAX did curls/ruck rows/triceps/curls while waiting.  Some controversy ensued as Claymore got zero distance for second after trying to repeato a small rock.  However, they came away with second place in this event.  EM 3, CM 2, RM 1.

EVENT 3: Body Weightlifting.  Mosey to return rocks and over to baseball field parking lot.  Low COE here: Max merkins to failure; total merkins for team wins.  VERY impressive numbers here, but form was questionable (a couple PAX looks liked hens picking at birdseed).  At the end, EM barely eked out the win with 184 total merkins versus 182 for RM and 169 for CM.

EVENT 4: Mini Triathlon. Sadly the Claymore Olympic Pool was closed as it was deemed 'unsafe for human swimming' so the COC modified to bear crawl > Freddy Merc > Sprint.  Finish line was moved approximately 18 times after judges deemed the rock pile and prickly bush 'dangerous.'   The bear crawlers absolutely destroyed the competition, bringing 3 points for CM, 2 for EM and 1 for RM.  This tees up a two-way tie for gold contention going into the final event.

EVENT 5: Ab-Breaking. Inspired by Paris, the COC debuted "Ab-breaking," a sport where all participants circle up for Mary while once competitor breakdances (using ab exercises) for 30 seconds to Herbie Hancock's "Rockit."  Creativity and skill was off the chart here and scores were high--ranging from 8.7 to 9.5.

COT: The COC paused to recognize all competitors as well as the Organizing Committee. Announcements by our sponsor "F3" included Thirsty Thursday Prayer Vigil, Odyssey, and Habitat for Humanity. Multiple prayers lifted up and VHS took us out.

CLOSING CEREMONIES:  As promised, a Louis Vuitton box was opened to find lovingly hand crafted medals.  The Swiss women's beach volleyball team looked on as Roguemont team members were given bronze medals, Evermist with silver, and Claymore with the gold.  Congratulations to all competitors!
